Tropf

Privacy Policy

Last updated 7 September 2026 · Tropf for iPhone

This English version is provided for convenience. The German version is the binding one.

In short. Tropf has no account, no login, no ads and no tracking. All 128 recordings ship inside the app; it uses neither the microphone nor your location. Two things leave your phone: anonymous usage events, so we can see which features are used, and Apple's purchase receipt when you unlock Tropf. Neither is linked to your name, your email address or your identity.

Controller

The controller under the GDPR is Frekvens AS, org. no. 821 787 912, Norway (see the legal notice). You can reach us at tropf@frekvens.app. Norway is part of the EEA; the GDPR applies there directly.

What stays on your phone

Your settings: your first name (if you enter it during onboarding), your goal, your bedtime and whether reminders are on, your favourites, the last timer and sound filter you chose, the counter of free nights and minutes, and whether the unlock has been bought. All of this lives in the app's local storage on your device. It is not sent to us. Delete the app and it is gone.

What leaves your phone

1. Anonymous usage statistics (PostHog)

To understand which parts of Tropf are used and to find bugs, the app sends a small number of product events to PostHog, an analytics service with servers in the EU. Examples: onboarding completed, scene started, timer set, purchase page shown, purchase completed.

With every event: a random installation identifier generated on your device, the app version, the iOS version, the device model and the approximate time. We do not send your name, email address, phone number, contacts, location or audio. The identifier is not linked to your Apple ID or to you as a person, and it is not used to follow you across other apps or websites or for advertising.

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in an app that works and can be improved (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). PostHog processes this data on our behalf under its privacy policy. We do not sell this data and do not pass it to advertisers.

2. Purchases (Apple and RevenueCat)

Tropf offers two in-app purchases: a one-time unlock ("Pay once") and a yearly subscription. Apple handles the payment. We never see your card, bank or billing details.

To confirm the purchase and to restore it on another iPhone, the app sends Apple's purchase receipt and a random app user identifier to RevenueCat, a purchase-management service. RevenueCat stores the receipt data (product bought, purchase date, transaction identifier) only under this random identifier, not under your name or email address. The legal basis is the performance of the contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). RevenueCat processes this data on our behalf under its privacy policy.

3. Crash reports (Apple)

If you have allowed iOS to share diagnostics with app developers (Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements), Apple may send us anonymised crash logs. We use them only to fix crashes. That setting is yours.

4. Nothing else

Tropf has no server of its own. There is no account, no mailing list, no push service, no social features and no ad network in the app. Bedtime reminders are scheduled locally on your device. If you email us, we keep the email in order to reply.

Apple's privacy label

On the App Store, Tropf declares two data types, both not linked to you and not used for tracking:

DataPurposeLinked to youTracking
Product interactionAnalyticsNoNo
Purchase historyApp functionality (unlock, restore)NoNo

Retention

Usage events are kept at PostHog for up to 12 months and then deleted. Receipt data at RevenueCat stays as long as the purchase has to be restorable. Emails to us are deleted once your request is settled, at the latest after 12 months.

Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection (Art. 15 to 21 GDPR), and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Because we hold no data under your name, we can only match usage events by the installation identifier; the simplest erasure is deleting the app. Write to tropf@frekvens.app and we answer within 30 days.

Children

Tropf is not aimed at children under 16 and does not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

When something changes, we update this page and the date at the top. We announce material changes in the app.
